Bright Bazaar believes in the power of color. Founded by Will Taylor, a self described bright young chap from the UK, you can’t but feel all warm and fuzzy after reading his philosophy and bopping around his blog. He’s a color hunter, interior journalist and daily documenter of all things bright and colorful. If you’re not already following him in Instagram I suggest you do. There’s nothing quite like a nice pop of color to make me happy. His posts and hashtag #makeyousmilestyle hit the nail on the head.

Check out some of my favorites from this Instagram feed below. And check out his blog here. Oh and did I mention he’s got a new book out called, rightfully so, Bright Bazaar. You can buy that here.

Shohei Takasaki

Originally from Japan, Shohei Takasaki has shown all over the world and is now living and working in Portland, Oregon. I personally swoon over his use of rich, bold colors and their relationship to simple, deliberate yet delicate lines. I love how you can see the path his work has taken over the years; how it’s evolved and morphed into new techniques while still embodying the same raw emotion. His most recent simple line work with the pop of color is my favorite.

All month long, Shohei will be live painting in the W+K Gallery Space. For those of you in Portland I would highly recommend popping down and checking it out. Not only is it displayed beautifully, but also watching him work is incredible. You can see the evolution of the painting in a dark room on site and if you happen to catch a word with him, he couldn’t be lovelier.

Below find a sampling of his work and check out his site here.

Shades of Blue

Blue is no longer the bluest of colors. In fact, it is as fresh and bright as today’s spring day. At first I thought it was all about navy but with a deeper dive I stand corrected. There is no playing favorites or sides; all different hues, saturations and intensities of blue are fair game. Truly, the more you pile on and group together the better. So, it’s high time we all dust off that J Crew cashmere navy sweater we all have in the bottom of our closet (you know what I’m talking about), grab a cyan t-shirt, your favorite dark wash denim and layer it up. Anything goes here, so have fun with it. Get inspired by some of my favorite blue ensembles from Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week street style below.
