Yet another colab for the books – Mara Hoffman famed designer of colorful geometric multi-prints that take form in effortless maxi cutout dresses and bathing suits has just launched her first ever home goods line with non other than Anthropologie. I mean seriously though, I’m drooling over everything. Never mind the complete bed sets, which I wish I had two beds to clothe in, but the pillows are two die for. I’m definitely adding the evil eye pillow to my collection, which is going to make it terribly hard to leave my shopping cart empty of the evil eye rug. And I can only image what the pyramid candle smells like. That piece is definitely worth stocking up on for future gifts. Oh, and let’s not forget about the totally affordable notebooks. I can’t think of a better place to house poetic love notes from Summer 2014. Or at least a few numbers and scribbles by the pool. In any case, be forewarned; you’re going to want it all. And everything’s pretty much already on back order so get after it!
I was a little late to the game but my past few weeks have been spent binge-watching Scandal on Netflix. It’s everything you want out of a “turn your brain off” series and is the perfect guilty pleasure to indulge in after a long day at work with a glass (or two) of wine.
It has an aesthetically pleasing cast who struggle not only to find truth for their clients but also in their personal lives. The extremely well dressed Kerry Washington; aka Olivia Pope is the highlight of the show. Playing a strong, successful woman who is very good at what she does and likes needs to be in control but has a weak spot for the (married) President, all the while struggling with the morality of her situation. I know, juicy, eh?!
So alas, instead of fixing her own problems she spends her time fixing other peoples. Classic deflection. In any case, her wardrobe is to die for. Structured jackets and handbags, silk camisoles, classic jewelry, wool slacks and platform heels. She is a power dresser. But for me, the true genius of Olivia Pope’s style is her loungewear. She has the absolute most to-die-for after work, curl up with a glass of wine, wardrobe. She seems to toggle between two color palettes, cream and grey but it always consists of a beautiful oversized sweater, a glass of big red wine, an elegant ring on her left pointer finger, a cashmere blanket and even though we never see her eat, she talks a lot about having popcorn for dinner… a personal favorite. So, it’s time we all take note and learn to Lounge Like a Olivia Pope. It’s the one thing she’s actually got all figured out.1. Ralph Lauren Blue Label $1377.52 2. T by Alexander Wang $75 3.
