YSL Majorelle Gardens

When in Marrakech visiting the Majorelle Gardens is a must. It is a welcomed calm after wandering the chaos of Marrakech’s winding street markets. The grounds are wonderful maze of cacti and water features with the beautiful blue Villa at its center.

Entrance to Majorelle Gardens

Originally designed by French artist, Jacques Marjorelle it was sold to Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé in the 80’s who worked to restore it. It now houses both a YSL Museum and Berber Museum featuring the most amazing collection of Berber jewelry and costumes. The Villa also houses the the Islamic Art Museum of Marrakech.

Insider Tips

Before you go make sure to check times and openings. The YSL museum and Villa aren’t open on certain days and plan to have to line up a bit in order to get it. They keep the number of entrants to a certain amount at a time to ensure everyone has the calm reflective experience they are looking for.

If you end up there over lunch, there’s a great café inside and if even if not, I recommend still popping in for a mint tea, because well, you’re in Morocco.

And don’t miss checking out Rue 33, a boutique across the road from the entrance

Happy hunting!
