3 Days in Sedona
Back in January my sister and I were looking for a place to take our mum and aunt for a long weekend for their birthdays. With me on the East Coast and they on the West Coast we narrowed in on Sedona, and I’m so glad we did. With all of us having a heart for nature and a focus on health and wellness made it the perfect place for us to recharge. It’s so much more than breathtaking views and landscapes, Sedona really does have a magical energy to it. For anyone who is in touch or wants to be more in touch with their spiritual side, loves the outdoors and can use a few spa treatments to decompress, Sedona should be top of your list.
If you can plan your trip around a full moon, do and plan a moonlight hike. You can plan yours solo but not knowing the area well, we did a guided hike through our resort, Enchantment, and it was absolutely incredible. Not only did we see the moon rise but also the sun set simultaneously. Watching the light change over the mountain landscapes in every direction and hiking back in the bask of the moonlight is an experience I will never forget. It was truly energizing in a way that’s almost unexplainable.
Visiting an energy vortex is a must. While I’m very in tune with energy, nature and my surroundings, I’d never experienced anything quite like an energy vortex. There are four main vortexes in Sedona, with Boynton Canyon being just above our resort and easily accessible. It’s the only vortex that embodies both female and male energies which is said to be perfect for balancing ones energies in relationships. I’d recommend doing an early morning hike to it, even before breakfast. Since it was early February for us, it was a bit chilly but watching the sunrise while sitting in the energy vortex was magical. It’s a great opportunity to meditate and program some new crystals, setting intent for each one. It is said that the juniper trees feel the vortexes more than other plants and they become increasingly more twisted the closer you get to the center of the vortex. If you’re lucky you may even run into a nice fellow who plays the flute at this vortex. He also carves rocks from the area into hearts and shares this love with strangers on the trail. We were lucky enough to run into him and got this very special souvenir. <3
If you like architecture and mid century modern, a visit to the Chapel of the Holy Cross is a must. It’s set within the mountain landscape and a gorgeous representation of building harmoniously into the land. It was inspired by and commissioned by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude.
Insider Tips
STAY
Enchantment Resort - It’s a 10 minute drive from Sedona with kind of a dorky name but don’t let that dissuade you. It’s a true retreat. Set directly beneath Boynton Canyon’s famous energy vortex’s, it couldn’t have a better location. That coupled with the 2 on-site restaurants, 1 casual café, world-class spa Mii Amo, pool and recreational activities and you’ll be happy never leaving the resort for your entire stay.
EAT
Mariposa - If you do venture off resort grounds for dinner, head to Brazilian restaurant, Mariposa. It’s a bit of a showcase with flaming fire pits and over the top construction but the food is delicious and wine list extensive.
Do
